Ike Aftermath

We've been watching all the news on the aftermath of the storm and just amazed at all the destruction on Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula. Jody is working from home today (yay!). We still have to boil our water, but aren't complaining because most people still do not have electricity. FEMA has set up several distribution centers to hand out MREs, water, and ice. The lines are super long to get the supplies. I'm so thankful that we have everything we need here. Jody went to Central Market yesterday. He had to wait half an hour to get in and then found out they only have non-perishables. The produce section was completely dark and he had to walk to a different section to see whether the tomatoes he picked out looked ok. He stopped by Kroger next and they do have refrigeration, but very limited supplies so Jody got what meat he could and one of the last half gallons of milk and whatever other random stuff he could find. A few people almost ran him over on their way to get in line for ice. Thank goodness that I breastfeed Henry and we don't have to worry about running out of formula or mixing it with contaminated water.
Here are a few more pics.
