Oliver's first time to finger paint

Jody had to work all day Sunday so we needed something fun to do - finger paint!
Oliver decided his body would make a fine canvas. Henry loved mixing the colors.

After creating their masterpiece, they cleaned off in some "herb soup."

Time to get messy all over again!

Oliver is One!

A whole year has gone by since my sweet little Oliver was born. Hard to believe. He's partial to growling so we threw him a bear themed party complete with a bear cave courtesy of Granddad!

Eggstravaganza

Didn't you know? Easter's not over yet! We never got around to hunting eggs on Sunday so this morning Henry donned his saddle oxfords again and searched for eggs in our backyard jungle.

This afternoon at playgroup we had another Easter egg hunt. Henry wasn't impressed at first; h0-hum, I already did this earlier! But unlike this morning, these eggs were filled with goodies like animal crackers and stickers! As soon as he figured that out, he was running around shaking the eggs to try to find ones that hadn't been opened yet. He had SO much fun and was SO excited and delighted with himself when he found one and got to eat the treat inside.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter!
We actually got dressed (or at least semi-dressed in the case of Henry) in time for a few photos before church this morning.
Jody, Henry and I sat in the "cry" room at church, but went to stand with my parents at the end of the service so we could enjoy the full glory of the Hallelujah Chorus.

We stopped along the road for a few bluebonnet photos after church.

We prepared for Easter lunch when we got home.
Mom's working on the asparagus.

Bruleed lemon tart

Katherine joined us, too. We had honeybaked ham, asparagus with almonds, cinnamon apple congealed salad, gratin dauphinois, and lemon tart for dessert.
How wonderful it was to celebrate Easter together.

Easter Weekend at the Ranch

We drove to Drips for Easter weekend and played at the ranch on Saturday. There's a beautiful patch of bluebonnets on the west side and also on the bluff near the gazebo.

Jody and I jumped in the water which was SUPER cold! Henry got in for about one second then said, "Cold! Cold!" so we pulled him out. A smart kid that one. He would rather throw rocks in the water anyway.

I picked some yucca blossoms which we were told is an Easter specialty in Mexico. I sauteed them in butter on Easter morning. Slightly bitter, but not bad on top of refried beans with jalapeno sausage, toast, and eggs!
